Instructor-Led Training Samples

Here I showcase a range of inventive methodologies aimed at fostering interactive and engaging learning environments. I place a strong emphasis on integrating gamification elements, real-world case studies, and interactive presentations to captivate learners actively. My expertise lies in tailoring these sessions to accommodate diverse learning styles and preferences, ensuring flexibility in delivery while prioritizing engagement. Furthermore, I focus on creating immersive learning experiences that not only promote participation but also enhance the overall value and practical application of the training content for all participants.

New Hire Orientation: Core Values Training

The following work sample demonstrates a creative approach to instructor-led training, incorporating gamification into the classroom setting and appealing to all types of learning styles.

Performance Gap: After completing New Hire Orientation and job skills training, it was clear that employees could not name the core values of the company nor apply those values to their work activities and decision-making. Based on survey data, the lack of knowledge of the core values was persistent across all levels of the company from hourly workers to senior managers and supervisors.

Learning Solution: The learning solution was to create a Core Values course as the culminating event of New Hire Orientation. This course serves as a place for new hires to synthesize various information learned over the orientation period and connect how that information is based on the company’s core values. For each core value, there is a video of senior leaders and hourly workers explaining what the core value means to work at the company, a game designed to allow learners to practice the core value in context, and a key takeaway video where the learning instructor provides context and needed content.

Learning Tools: The learning solution was built as an ILT session, with various hands-on games and activities, supplemented by a learning module built in Articulate Storyline that classroom facilitators operate to communicate all of the content.

Case Study: Nova Medical

The following work sample was designed for people leaders within the organization as part of a full-day Creating Positive Culture workshop.

Performance Gap: Results of annual survey data, employee retention data, and exit interviews pointed to a dysfunctional culture at one of the company’s manufacturing plants. Above normal attrition, over 40%, and a pattern of complaints around favoritism, inappropriate language, poor communication, and lack of transparency required an intervention with management to reset the culture of the organization.

Learning Solution: Using data from the actual company, I created a case study for a fictitious company with similar underlying issues and symptoms for managers to analyze and determine strategies they would employ at the company to correct the company’s culture. By creating distance between the learner and the company, this module allowed learners to make constructive decisions without feeling the need to defend their own or other’s actions. It also shifted the mindset of the learner to look at data as a key indicator of culture rather than their own anecdotal experiences.

Learning Tools: The learning solution would be built in PowerPoint.
