Design Samples

Throughout my career, I have worked with corporate, non-profit, and educational organizations to develop a variety of learning solutions. The design samples below highlight my design process, curriculum design experiences, and demonstrate my ability to facilitate virtual and in-person learning sessions.

Design Process: Virtual Sales Call Training

The following work sample outlines an example of how I utilize the Design Thinking Process to conduct Audience Analysis, Needs Analysis, Human-Centered Problem Definition, Ideation, Prototyping, and Testing for a corporate client looking to improve sales representatives’ confidence around virtual sales calls.

Performance Gap: Learners have expressed a need for training in online technology for virtual sales calls and tips on transitioning their in-person sales skills to the virtual environment. Particularly important is building their confidence to complete sales deals successfully. The skill gap can be best identified as a lack of practical experience in the virtual sales environment, comfortably with the virtual technology, and a disconnect between how their in-person sales skills transfer into the virtual environment.

Learning Solution: The e-learning solution is designed to provide New Sales Representatives (with less than two years of experience in the company) the training to build proficiency in implementing virtual sales calls and transferring their prior in-person knowledge and skills, allowing learners to feel confident in their abilities and increase the rate of successful virtual sales call conversions.

Learning Tools: The learning solution would be built in Articulate Storyline and utilize interactive videos and a video chatbot as a virtual mentor.

Curriculum Development: Integrated Studies

The following is a breakdown of the development of a new university-wide General Education program for a small liberal arts university.

Performance Gap: We identified a gap between learners ability to meet the expectations of employers in the following categories: Information Literacy, Critical Thinking and Curiosity, Creativity and Expression, and Diversity, Inclusion, and Wellness.

Learning Solutions: The Integrated Studies Program focuses on creating a scaffolded learning experience for adult learners, with an emphasis on embedding best practices in teaching into course structures. The program also includes learning outcome assessment at all stages, including individual assignments, courses, and overall outcomes.

Learning Tools: Bloom’s Taxonomy, Webb’s Depth of Knowledge Rubrics, Learning Experience Design, Kirkpatrick Evaluation Model, ADDIE model, Articulate Storyline projects, Panopto, Active Learning.

Micro-Learning Session: Writing an Introduction

This is an example of a 5-minute micro-lesson teaching adult learners how to write compelling introduction paragraphs for online audiences.

Performance Gap: We identified a need to help employees improve the quality of their written communication with external and internal stakeholders.

Learning Solution: This microlesson is one in a series of asynchronous lessons covering content and would be combined with feedback from mentors. The presentation uses relatable content and is presented in an authentic, more casual style, to engage the target audience.

Learning Tools: This presentation was created in Keynote and filmed using Camtasia.
